Safety warning

We currently use Zoom for our online conferences.

After the news appeared in the last days, our technical team and different experts have verified that the use of Zoom does not imply a direct security problem for the user, provided the following measures are followed:

  • Keep zoom updated to the latest version.
  • Do not share user or conference ID or passwords.
  • Do not share the url (web address) that reaches you to access.
  • Do not download Zoom from unofficial websites
  • .Verify that the emails you receive to access our conferences are from Zoom.us, nanoGe.org or Scito.org.
Organize an online seminar

nanoGe is eager to promote the organization of online seminars. Do you have a topic? It's very easy to lauch a meetup! Just describe the topic, decide a few speakers, and fill the form.

Most important: We wish to encourage participation of both junior and senior researchers, please propose interesting research directions

nanoGe Online Meetup Conference

The online seminar Shape-Controlled Nanocrystals: Synthesis, Characterization Methods and Applications took place on May 7th 2020.

Contents

This e-symposium covered the latest advances in synthesis of shape-controlled nanocrystals, as well as the recent developments in methods and techniques that allow to study both the growth and the final particle morphology, on a global as well as atomic scale. It also discussed the unique assemblies that such particles allow for, both as close-packed thin films, or in composites.

Two decades ago, we saw the birth of shape-controlled colloidal nanocrystals. Today, state-of-the-art synthesis can produce a wide variety of single-composition and heterostructured nanocrystals, from 0D spheres, cubes, pyramids, over 1D nanorods and single- and dual-core heterorods, tetrapods, octapods, to 2D nanoplatelets, and many other combinations of such morphologies. These particles exhibit unique optoelectronic properties, and can assemble into anisotropic superstructures. As a consequence, a new generation of applications that show improved performance by exploiting the nanocrystal shape is currently under development.
