Charge recombination in perovskite solar cells has been previously proofed to be mediated by the energetic distribution of intra-gap trap states, by fs-transient absorption spectra (fs-TAS) and time-resolved charge extraction (TRCE), however, the quantitative expression and detailed landscape is still unclear. A physical model derived from the well-known multiple-trap theory is put forth to describe the scene of charge recombination perovskite solar cells with mesoporous TiO2 scaffold, by taking into account the interfacial recombination involving electrons in perovskite phase and those in TiO2 scaffold. Our model predicates a bi-exponential dependence of recombination rate constant on voltage, which is well reproduced by the transient photovoltage (TPV) measurement and supported by the reported charge accumulation mechanism. It implies that the trap-limited recombination is mediated by the trap states in perovskite and TiO2, respectively, at low and high voltage. This work may offer new insights into the specific recombination mechanisms in perovskite solar cells with mesoporous TiO2 scaffold.
