The solvent mediated growth of polycrystalline metal halide perovskite thin films has been subject of deep investigations during the last decade. Precursors are dissolved in solutions and are deposited on substrates to allow the formation of the polycrystalline thin film. Large amount of data has been collected on their structural, morphological and chemical composition, shedding light on how these fundamental properties affect the optoelectronic quality of the thin film semiconductor and its reliability. Here I will present the results of our investigation on the defects activity in thin films grown through solvent free processes. The study is perfomed as a function of the chemical composition of the crystalline unit and I will correlate it to the light and thermal stability of the semiconductor thin films.
