The present study reports the morphological, structural, and luminescent characterization of Eu³⁺- and Tb³⁺-doped CaAl₂Si₂O₈ feldspar synthesized by the sol–gel method and subsequently subjected to heat treatments in the temperature range of 500–1100 °C. Structural characterization was performed by SEM using compositional contrast analysis to evaluate the morphology, microstructure, and elemental distribution of the materials. X-ray diffraction analysis revealed the formation of the anorthite crystalline phase with triclinic symmetry in the P-1 space group, according to the ICDD reference card 00-012-0301.
Photoluminescence measurements were carried out at room temperature. For the CaAl₂Si₂O₈:Eu³⁺ system, the most intense emission was observed at 616 nm, corresponding to the characteristic ⁵D₀ → ⁷F₂ transition, under excitation wavelengths of 272 nm associated with the charge transfer band and 393 nm corresponding to the f–f transition. The emission coordinates obtained in the CIE chromaticity diagram were in the red region.
In the case of CaAl₂Si₂O₈:Tb³⁺, the highest emission intensity was recorded at 544 nm under excitation wavelengths of 233 nm, related to the charge transfer band, and 375 nm corresponding to the f–f transition. The observed emissions were associated with the ⁵D₄ → ⁷F₆ and ⁵D₄ → ⁷F₅ transitions, respectively. The emission coordinates obtained from the CIE chromaticity diagram were in the green region.
