Moungi G.Bawendi

Moungi G. Bawendi, professor at the Massachusetts Institute Of Technology (MIT) Chemistry Nobel Prize 2023, has done outstanding research in the field of nanotechnology, one of the most important contributions has been the development of quantum dots. In 2023 he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry jointly with Louis E. Brus and Alexey Ekimov for the discovery and syntesis of quantum dots.

Beatriz Roldán Cuenya

Director of the Interface Science Department at the Fritz Haber Institute (FHI) in Berlin where she heads the Department of Interface Science since 2017. She was elected among the top 1% by citations for field and year in the Web of Science recognized by Clarivate. Her main research interests are  the synthesis of nanostructured materials with tunable surface properties and the experimental investigation of structure-reactivity relationships in thermal and electro-catalysis using in situ and operando method.

Gregory D. Scholes

William S.Tod, professor of Chemistry Princeton University, started his independent career at the University of Toronto (2000-2014) where he was the D.J. LeRoy Distinguished Professor. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society (FRS) in 2019 for substantial contributions to the improvement of natural knowledge. Areas of research:

  • Natural and Enginered Materials for Energy, Environment and Sustainabiility
  • Optical Materials and Light Matter Interactions
  • Quantum Material Science

Laura Herz

Laura Herz, professor of Physics at the University of Oxford, directs the Semiconductors Group at the Clarendon Laboratory, and is the Associate Head of the Mathematical, Physical and Life Science Divison for research. She was awarded the Environment, Sustainability and Energy Division mid-career Award by the Royal Society of Chemistry, the Nevill Mott Medal and Prize by the Institute of Physics and the Friedrich-Wilhelm-Bessel Award of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation for her research. Areas of reseach:

  • Photophysical and nano-scale effects
  • Biomimetics and self-assembly
  • Charge-carrier dynamicsEnergy-transfer and light-harvesting for solar energy conversion
